Oracle on June 29th, 2018 made an announcement reaffirming its commitment towards Oracle EBS. In its statement of “Oracle Applications Unlimited and Oracle Premier Support—an Unbeatable Combination,” Oracle declared that it would provide 10-year rolling support and continuous innovation for EBS users. Applications Unlimited is Oracle’s plan to continue providing ongoing enhancements to current Oracle Applications beyond the delivery of Oracle Fusion Applications, providing customers with more visibility into our existing product roadmaps and helping them derive continual success with their current applications by delivering dedicated, world-class development and support for years to come. Though Oracle has not stated any date for the release of 12.X release in the roadmap released earlier, Oracle wants to steer away from any misperceptions & reassure its commitment to EBS & its users. Starting from 2019, Oracle plans to review and update the ERP annually & extend Oracle premier support by one year, giving Oracle E-Business Suite 12.X customers a rolling window of at least ten years of Oracle premier support. This strategy is based on Oracle’s commitment to support our existing applications via a stable and predictable long-term support policy, designed to meet the needs of our customers. This announcement shall allay customers’ concerns and assist their longer-term planning.
Oracle will continue to invest in E-Business Suite in the three broad categories of functional advance, mobility and UI modernization, and operational efficiency – all guided by customer enhancement requests. Vendors such as Propel Apps, previously Algarytm are investing in the mobility of Oracle EBS with pre-built & custom mobile solution offerings. Oracle is also working to bring EBS customers some exciting new capabilities with our Adaptive Intelligent SaaS applications & some tools for auto upgradation to Cloud Infrastructure.

Continuous Innovation to become part of Oracle’s Commitment
As a part of “Continuous Innovation,” Oracle wants its EBS users to utilize the future updates of EBS to make the best use of latest applications and technology innovations without undergoing a significant release upgrade. In particular, an EBS customer can view SaaS products such as Accounting Hub Reporting Cloud Service and In-Memory Cost Management Cloud Service as well-integrated functionality that can simply be added to an EBS system, just as one might add a new module within EBS.
Besides, Oracle will offer
- “Continuous Updates”—periodic patch updates to the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.X code line, analogous to the 12.2. X patch updates we have made available on an approximately annual basis. These will combine functionality enhancements, error corrections, and statutory and regulatory updates into a consolidated, suite-wide patch set that can be easily applied with Online Patching.
- “Tools-only Updates”—periodic patch updates to allow for the needed refresh of the technology components on which Oracle E-Business Suite is built. These updates will enable a customer to obtain technology stack updates without upgrading their Oracle E-Business Suite applications code.
This note reassures customers who run critical operations on Oracle E-Business Suite that their system will continue to be supported and enhanced for years to come, while Oracle continues our work to bring the value of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure and Applications to customers who want to continue leveraging their investment in Oracle E-Business Suite.
